the German aircraft of Red Baron 2
Pictures of the Hun!!!

Fokker Fodder!!!
An example of a 1915/1916 fokker eindecker! this German aircraft struck fear into the hears of many allied flyers in early 1916, intill improvements in allied scouts the Eindecker couldn't be touched.
Albatross D.III
In red Baron 2, the D.III is better then the D.V version of the albatross as it doesn't shead its wings as much. the D.III has good MGs, good speed & climb.
Pfalz D.III
Took me years to learn how to say " pflaz" but less time to find why i dislike the aircraft. it has ok MGs & speed, but i cant get it to take off fast enough.
Fokker D VII
As with the red baron sopwith camel the D.VII isn't as good as it should be. good guns and diving charactristics are all that i can give the fighter.
Fokker Dr.1. (Triplane)
DEFEATING A FOKKER Dr.1.

An aircraft I most fear on Red Baron 2 is the Fokker triplane! In the hands of a old hand, i.e. most of the JG13 pilots, the aircraft becomes screaming death in the ears of Gurus & newbies alike. I have found that one cannot become victor over a fokker DR.1. unless you hold a distinct advantage & a large amount of luck. I am adding this essay to the website to give a virtual & historical understanding of how it is possible to down a tripe hound ( Triplane). It must be noted that many Fokker triplane fell in the 1914-18 war because their pilots were caught at a distinct disadvantage, Be is height, numbers or merely because the German failed to see his adversary. In the red baron 2 multiplayer game only the first of these advantages will aid you in a kill, as a enemy can always be locked on to by pressing ‘N’ & that in a melee game it is usually all against all.

As every good fighter pilot knows, to kill an enemy is to know what your enemy is thinking & the qualities of his mount. The triplane has three main structural & design features, which makes the Fokker a beautiful killer even in the hands of a novice. These three features are; the twin synchronised Spandaus machine guns mounted on the engine cowling. The MGs are very powerful, able to shred a enemy aircraft to strips of fabric and wood if the pilot can get in a good burst!
The triplane design of three planes (wings), this design gives the aircraft a vast amount of lift which can give the pilot the choice to climb high above his enemy to attack, or just a avenue of escape in a undesirable dogfight

Lastly, the loading of the aircraft! The tripe hound has a rotary engine, this makes the aircraft light but makes it possible for the aircraft design to be quite stubby & short with the pilot, engine and guns in the first few feet of the fuselage. Like its allied rival, this type of loading enabled the DR.1. to turn very sharply indeed.
Now that the dangers are in the open, it is possible for us to work on a tactics to down the Hun!!! Unfortunately there is little that can be done about the spandus, apart from attacking from behind the fokker ( which becomes a nice fat little target when viewed from the rear!), my advice on a head on pass is to aim at the engine and fire a long burst from a greater distance, then dive under him when he begins to fire.
The best way to stop a fokker climbing out of combat is to hit him early on in the fight in the engine, the loss of power means the aircraft has less power to soar out of danger & gain altitude. The loss of power will also mean the tripe hound will have less of a turning circle as it will stall faster! another way in which to cripple the triplane’s lift is to blow off or damage the wings, the loss of flying area will also cripple the aircrafts banking.
The only other advice that I could give, and that I try to follow when able is to be higher then the Hun you want to kill. When you are 2000 or 3000 feet above him you are pretty safe. Most fokker flyers will pull up and spray you will bullets from a great distance, you pull up also, then as they flip over in a stall you put down you nose and dive down on him directly from above.
The fokker is still my greatest fear in the Red baron 2 skies, and I cannot always put my tactics into practice. Hope you can develop your own theories from this essay.
Good hunting,
